Dr. Desjamebra J. Robinson is a womanist theologian who specializes in Recovery from Psycho-Spiritual Trauma & Somatic Illness. She uses an Educational, Historical and Philosophical approach to inform and engage our current culture about the results of generational trauma and how to heal collectively across cultural boundaries.
Her Book, "I Hope This Helps Someone: A Womanist Response to Spiritual and Psychological Trauma" is an introduction to her work and research.
Despite the challenges she faced as a child sexual abuse and domestic violence survivor- she maintains perseverance to succeed in this world and give hope and guidance to others who have the driving force to succeed as well.
She was called to preaching since she was 8 years old at her grandparent's (Bishop Julian R. and Evangelist Mildred S. Cox) church, the Goodman Street Church of God in Rochester NY. She rededicated her life to healing and was anointed in 2005. She was blessed with a beautiful daughter in 2006. Graduated with her bachelor degree (Management) in 2009. Completed her Masters (Theology/ Womanist Studies) at Northeastern Seminary. She was Licensed to preach (2007) and ordained to serve at Elim Christian Fellowship Under the leadership of Dr. Troy Anthony Bronner in 2012. She went on to complete her Masters in Divinity (Preaching) in 2014, and Her Doctorate In Ministry (Transformational Leadership/ Preaching) from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School and began pastoring in 2018.
She is a certified NYS MWBE, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Practitioner. She is also certified Career and Technical Educator in New York State. President and founder of the Womanist Collective Inc. which provides a brave space for black women to advocate, educate, articulate and empower one another.
